Addcomposites / early-stage consultancy
Early advice on a low-cost route to a software platform, toolpath development and access to technology early adopters.

About the project
During the infancy of Addcomposites, I advised on a development path that could move quickly without requiring a large upfront capital commitment. The aim was to build a practical launchpad for the company’s toolpath and software platform.
The strategic question was where to start: which existing tools, workflows and communities could help a young company develop and test an idea before committing to expensive infrastructure? I proposed a low-cost, high-speed development route that could also create indirect exposure to technology early adopters who would otherwise have been difficult to reach.
Our support also included pathfinding and toolpath work, alongside Rhino 3D and Grasshopper training. Building internal capability was part of the brief: the team needed a way to explore, prototype and keep developing its own workflows.
This entry records the early consultancy contribution. Addcomposites and its team have since developed their own products and platform; the linked Borg Markkula case study documents the original software strategy and toolpath consultancy.
